With a total land area of 372 square miles, Indianapolis is not only the largest city in Indiana, it’s the second-largest state capital in the United States, and the 14th-largest city in the U.S. The city itself includes about 850,000 residents, but add in the greater metropolitan area – including all the communities served by the legal team at Klezmer Maudlin – and our population expands to 2 million Indiana residents.

Founded in 1821, Indianapolis has long served as a manufacturing and transportation hub, standing at the intersection of several railroads and the National Road, the first federally funded highway in the United States. Because more interstate highways intersect at Indianapolis than at any other city in the United States, the city continues to be one of the country’s primary centers of distribution and logistics – and earned it the title “the Crossroads of America.”

logo02As the headquarters of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Indianapolis frequently plays host to the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments. It is the famous home of the Indianapolis 500, which is the largest single-day sporting event in the world. Lucas Oil Stadium serves not only as the home of the Indianapolis Colts, but as host to a consistent stream of events, including the annual Drum Corps International World Championships.

Indianapolis represents the 26th-largest economy in the United States and the 42nd-largest economy worldwide. The city is home to Anthem, Inc., Eli Lilly and Company, and Calumet Specialty Products Partners, all of which hold a place on the Fortune 500. The Indianapolis International Airport houses the second-largest FedEx Express hub in the world, employing 6,600 workers. Tech companies like Angie’s List, BrightPoint, Interactive Intelligence, and Salesforce Marketing have helped make Indianapolis the fourth-fastest growing tech job city in the United States.
